How I Got to Page 1 on LinkedIn Search by Changing My Profile

Within 24 hours, I stopped showing up, but went to LinkedIn location 6 to research my specialty by spending a few hours creating a great LinkedIn profile. Sure, I limited the search to my area (Greater NY), but it's still a huge area, and I'll be on page 5 for the whole of the United States. My goal is to climb more, but it was only a day. LinkedIn for business? For sure. Follow my advice below and you can also access it. Consider it a marketing adventure for those of you who don't do marketing and in this case, marketing.

Start by seeing where you are now. Search for yourself using your keywords, the words you think people are looking for to find you. Make sure the search criteria are set to use keywords and not for relevance. If you use relevance, you are always at the top of the list, because they are of course relevant to you. Keywords can be: tax advisor, retail banker, software developer, nurse, sales manager, etc. Note if you can find yourself and, if so, on which page / position you appear. If you're on the first page, it probably doesn't matter if you stop reading.

Okay, let's go to work. Connect to LinkedIn and select Edit Profile. What we will work on first is the most important part: it is the part that shows "above the fold" or what appears to most users without scrolling down.

Make sure your photo is a good close-up. Otherwise, have someone take a good photo. If necessary, you can always contact someone who takes and uses passport photos. However, if you are putting on professional clothing, stand against a white wall and let someone take the picture, it should work. Just cut it on your head. Oh and laugh!

Select the modification name. Make sure to provide your real full name (duh).

For your professional title (under the name editing section), instead of a boring, dry title that no one would ever seek, enter something interesting that explains what you do without jargon, but use your word- key. They are only 120 characters long, so you need to be specific. Remember to start with "I help people to ...".

Then enter the title of your current position. Make sure to use your keyword. If your keyword does not exactly match your title, you can use your title and say "Expert for" or "Passion for" to place your keyword there.

Enter your websites now. If possible, you should use all three links. You can link to multiple pages on your website at any time, for example B. on the "Info" or "Contact" page for any of the links.

If you have a Twitter account and are active on Twitter, be sure to add it as it may be useful for some people to contact you on Twitter. If you have a Twitter account and you are not active, I would not enter it because people are trying to contact you and if you do not reply because you are not active, it is not a good first (and maybe last) impression.
