 The power machine is sexy, slim, shiny, and sophisticated. Perhaps that's why lazy gym owners and personal trainers fall in love with her.

Gym owners pack their gym with this attractive piece of equipment so they can attract more people to their gym without having to employ multiple trainers. Fitness enthusiasts who benefit from personal training services can often find well-paid companions to walk them from machine to machine and adjust the settings for them. Without being too biological for you, your muscles won't work on their own - they work in a chain of motion. The darker machines, the leg extension machines, are a good example of this - they're not natural movements. It has absolutely nothing to do with how our feet are used in everyday life - for walking, climbing and dismounting.

Make no mistake, machines have their place in the fitness world. However, they are more beneficial for two population groups: bodybuilders who want to correct a deficiency or weakness, and physiotherapy patients who are trying to build up their strength and regain their freedom of movement. They are not for people who want to lose fat!

People looking to lose fat should use free weights, strength training, and a variety of other equipment such as medicine balls, resistance bands, and balance machines that are primarily used to perform non-muscle specific movements. .

Stop using the handle of a cardio machine!

I am amazed every time I see someone on a treadmill holding onto the bar with white hands for life. You may have seen people cover entire stairs or step mills with arms lowered and heads bowed while their backs were unusually arched. There are even those who hold onto a side rail of a pedestrian trainer or elliptical machine and press with their hands (or my all-time favorite are people who rotate their arms so their wrists are facing forward!)

What do these people have in common? You are a waste of time! The stick is only intended for balance - not as a support if it becomes difficult during exercise. Do you have something to hold on to when you walk or run outside? Unless you're running while pushing a stroller (very strange!) Or a stroller (if you have to), let go of the lever. You use more energy and muscle mass, which leads to a more efficient and effective workout.
